What NEVER to do if you want your own website
Today's Adventure in the Biz opp Jungle:
In which Charlie reviews Jonathan Burgess's
False Favourites, reveals what NOT to do if
you want to create a website, and shows you
an easy way to get a good website for £2 a
month."
Hi,
"I enjoy your regular Biz Opp jungle email and look
forward to it every week," wrote one of my readers
this week.
Fantastic. I'm flattered!
(And I'll send him a big cheque for his kind
comments this afternoon!)
He continued...
"I see that you thoroughly endorse the Little Acorn
laying system."
Well, I do because it's a good product with a solid
money back guarantee from a publisher I trust....
but more importantly, loads of Biz Opp Junglers
who love horse betting endorse it very highly. Just
check out the forum if you want to see proof.
If you like a flutter it's well worth a look:
LITTLE ACORNS
But this wasn't why my reader was emailing me.
He wanted to ask if I "had any opinion or advice
about Jonathon Burgess's False Favourites laying
ebook which seems on the face of it to be very
good value at only £19.99."
So what did I find out?
What you get with False Favourites...
This product comes in a PDF file, which
technically makes it an e-book I suppose.
This is why it's slightly lower in price at £19.99 that
similar betting books, which usually come for £27,
£37, £47 or even higher.
It's actually two e-books. The first is a beginner's
guide to opening a Betfair account and an
explanation of his premise: that very often
favourites will lose the race, and it's by betting on
these in a systematic way that you can make a bit
of spare cash.
The second e-book shows you loads more
examples, goes deeper into his method, and
explains how to lay on the Flat.
Overall, it's a detailed and informative manual.
Take all this information in, and give it a go, and
you'll learn the ropes and enjoy an education in
Burgess's methods.
Some comments online quite rightly point out that
it isn't a 'system' in the sense that you don't have
a formula you apply blindly. It's more about
gathering the right information to make good
choices. But that to me is a better quality for a
manual to have.
Systems can work well for a time, then stop
working all of a sudden. Then you are no wiser,
and no richer.
But an educated, informed punter can keep
getting better... honing their instincts... learning to
think and react for themselves... using a
combination of systems and methods.
This goes for all biz opps too. Forget about those
'quick fix', "push of a button" promises that say
you don't "have to do anything to make money".
The best products are those that educate you,
build your knowledge and teach you lessons that
will help you earn a second income for the rest of
your life.
In fact, here's my new motto:
"A biz opp is for life, not just for Christmas."
Talking of which...
Need a website? Here's what NOT to do...
Quite often I get asked to recommend companies
or designers who can build websites. And every
time I don't have an answer.
Which is weird right? Considering I have my own
website and plenty of contacts in the internet
publishing industry?
Well, here's the truth...
Most website designers and website design
companies don't know how to serve the needs of
the home entrepreneur. They are often brilliant at
branding, or doing mainstream websites.
But for basic websites that sell... which you can
put up quickly, within a few days, at LOW cost and
tweak whenever you want to... forget it.
They'll come along and talk about colours, fonts
and designs. They'll try and include fancy Flash
technology, or elements that will boost their own
CVs and reputations.
They'll usually lack any sympathy or
understanding for your 'hard sell' approach, and
perhaps even sniff at the products you're selling.
They'll take months and even when it's done you'll
find it hard to change or manage the website
yourself. You'll have to rely on their expertise and
nag, nag, nag them to do stuff.
Worse, even the cheapest website builder will
charge over a grand - and probably £3K to £4K to
do the job.
This is before you've tested whether this is even
going to make you a profit.
If you want to sell a product, or create a sign up
page for a newsletter, or build a simple website for
your MLM or betting system... then here's the best
way to go about it:
How to set up your own website FAST, without
ANY skills
* Set up a basic sales page, sign-up page,
or "landing" page. Whatever suits your
needs.
* Test your product, proposition or service
cheaply and quickly so you can see
BEFORE you waste time and money
whether this has the potential to make you
a decent profit.
* Tweak it and change it until you crack the
formula and finally start seeing the money
come in.
* NOW you can think about upping the ante
and creating a more sophisticated
website. You'll have a budget based on
the profits you'll make.
The best way to set up your own webpage it is to
use a program called Instant Sitebuilder.
It lets you choose a site from a template so you
can create your own really easily and quickly,
without knowing any code.
Yes it costs money. But you're talking a couple of
quid a month, not £3K up front!
To get a site built for you quickly and
inexpensively, put "website builder" into google
and shop around.
Or for my recommendation, try 1-2-3-reg.co.uk.
You can also check out fasthosts.co.uk... or
site2you.com... there's a few around, all with
different templates and offers.
There you go, I've just saved you a LOT of time
and money!
Later alligator,
