Two of the richest self-made blokes I've ever met make their money by sourcing products from abroad.
They're not technology whizzes, inventors, traders, or marketing geniuses. But they ARE multi-millionaires.
Their business model is so simple, they've barely changed it in years. They simply get the license to sell hot products from the USA and advertise them in UK newspapers.
You'll undoubtedly have seen them. Open any issue of The Mail or Telegraph and you'll see their adverts for dog collars, binoculars, health books and pain relief gadgets.
I met these two guys very briefly once in London. One of my publisher friends took me along on the pretext of perhaps giving them tips on launching an email newsletter.
What surprised me was how secretive they were about their business.
The way they stop anyone else doing the same thing is by fiercely protecting their import sources. They don't hire staff or let anyone know who their contacts are.
If anyone knew their sources, they could undercut them and copy their multi-million pound business to the letter.
