How to profit from blood on the streets

Today's 'Adventure in the Biz Opp Jungle'

'In which Charlie remembers the old direct mail
masterpiece Blood on the Streets and reveals who is
making money from the recession right now, you can
meet them here at:
Profit from recession'

Hi,

As a rapidly ageing biz opp dinosaur...

(Actually, that's unfair. I'm still a young raptor. Really I
am. A raptor who wakes at 6am to deal with a shouting
baby. Raaaaar.)

...I remember the good old biz opp days before the inter-
web took hold.

Selling was ALL done by post in those days.

Yes, post... delivered by whistling postmen who skipped
down sunny streets paved with gold.

In your piece of biz opp direct mail, you'd get not only a
sales letter, hammered out in courier font... you'd get
shiny bits of coloured paper with photos and
testimonials... booklets, brochures and 'special
guarantee' cards...

Materials would spill out onto your doormat like giant
confetti.

Looking back on it now, junk mail seems a quaint and
beautiful 20th Century artefact. It's quickly being replaced
by pop-ups, squeeze pages, annoying American accents
and video clips.

In the good old days, you could even get your hands
on masterpieces like this...

Sometimes, you'd get not only the sales materials, you'd
get an entire BOOK sent to you for free.

You know the kind of thing... a slim volume with large font
and a coupon or 'call to action' at the end... a bit like the
books the Hare Krishnas and Christian Evangelists still
hand out today in city centres.

One of my favourites from the late '90s was called Blood
On The Streets
. It promoted Bill Bonner's stock market
tipping newsletters of the time.

It was dramatic stuff. Classic contrarian philosophy. It
explained that the best time to sell stocks was when
society felt at the peak of happiness and 'stability', when
everything was booming... and how the best time to buy
and get stuck into the financial markets was when chaos
and confusion reigned and ordinary investors were
running for cover.

Today, there's a sort of blood on the streets scenario.

At least, in western financial terms, there's metaphorical
blood anyway... failed banks, burst bubbles,
repossessions, unemployment and political meltdown.

And of course, we're now bombarded by the big fat word
RECESSION.

The recession sees the return of the sort of contrarian
investor who lapped up Blood on the Streets. They've
been waiting since the beginning of the bull market in
2003 to make their move as soon as another financial
disaster struck.

And compared to the correction back in 2000, the present
situation is serious... about as serious as you can get
without the frown falling right off your face.

So who are these profiteers, and how are they making
money? Well, check out this website, called 'The Return of
the Recession Raiders':

Profit from recession

Bad news? This website doesn't hold back

What do you think? As you can see these guys are under
no illusions whatsoever...

As soon as you start reading, the author, Andrew Roberts
hits you with the grim news right up front. He reveals that
on the 12th March 2009 Numis Securities, a City
investment bank, sent out a private note to their clients.

It read:

"The bankruptcy of the UK is a very real probability as the
UK Government is trying to stimulate a greater debt
burden in a grossly indebted economy. We believe the
scale of the macro imbalances in the UK means there is
no prospect of a recovery in 2009 and we expect the UK
to be mired in a deep recession through all of 2010."

Ouch.

Even more depressingly, if you read further down the
website, Roberts says:

"Privately, something close to desperation is starting to
develop inside government. After watching the slide in
bank shares in mid January 2009, one cabinet minister
was quoted as saying; "The banks are f**cked, we're
f**cked, the country's f**cked."

Yowser.

So what's going on here?

What exactly is this service?

And how does it aim to make you money?

Well, this is very old school, the kind of investment
course I used to join back in the '90s. Which is why I liked
the sound of it when I first heard of it.

Andrew Roberts was the guy behind something that
came out in 2000 called "The 5 Secrets deliberately
withheld to keep you in the rat race".

This wealth building course was a big success while the
dot.coms fell and the markets took a beating.

Then of course, the current boom happened and this
course wasn't promoted much until one of Andrew's
students wrote to him about a "missing 6th secret".

They met up and Andrew discovered that this secret
involved a type of investment that did well in every single
downturn. An idea formed for a new advanced course
aimed at exploiting these profitable cycles.

They went to hundreds of pro investors, interviewing
them, looking for their recessionary secrets... seeing if
this matched up with their 6th secret.

Of those, 27 provided concrete details of how and where
to make money in a downturn.

And this is how Recession Raiders was born.

What you get when you join...

There's a massive 90-day risk-free trial. Which is just as well,
because there's a fair bit to absorb.

What you get as soon as you take up your trial is a series
of strategies in 15 educational sessions. These are
professional trader's strategies which have been tried
and tested in previous recessions. You'll get them all at
once so you can see what you're in for, right up front.

In a nutshell, the course shows you the moves you need
to make to protect yourself from recession and come out
the other end with a profit.

As the website says, very honestly in my opinion...

"You can't guarantee you'll do well of course.  But it's
very easy to find proven opportunities to collect big gain
after gain."

By the way, this is not aimed at super-wealthy people.
You don't need to have a nest egg or a big wedge of
investment cash. But be warned, you do need to be
prepared to swim against the flow, like a plucky salmon.

Of course, being a veteran of the biz opp jungle, you're
more than used to going against the herd-like mentality.

After all, your aim is to reject the 9-5, wage dependence
and the idea that you accept your lot in life!

However ONE warning...
