Today's Adventure in the Biz Opp Jungle:

'In which Charlie explains himself... wonders whether this DIY telly revolution can really make you money... and offers yet
another challenge'.

Hi,

I got a lot of emails this week asking why I chose Tiger's Lair as a name for our "dragon's den"- style project.

Why didn't I use 'Lion's Lair'?

Well, by my way of reckoning, lions sit about all day with big hair, eating meat and watching the missus (or 'lionesses') do all the work.

(Erm, actually not dissimilar to me, then!)

But Tigers are a symbol of economic success.
Investment types use the name 'tigers' for countries that are surging forward economically - like Ireland in the late 90s or the 'Asian' tigers of a few years ago.

Fair enough, right?

Tigers don't have 'dens' - that's more for wolves.
So I thought lairs were a more tigery abode.

Also some readers wanted to know who "Duncan Valentine" was. Be cause the surly Scots guy on the show is called Duncan Bannatyne.

Again, I was trying to be clever... it was valentine's day.

Sigh.

Onto more important things...

The next big thing in Biz Opp
************************

I was watching a Money Programme special on D.I.Y television the other day.

The more I think about it, the more sure I am that this is where the next big money making opportunity lies.

I mean, this could be as big as direct mail, e-letter marketing, public access satellite TV, blogs and even the mighty Amazon.

And as with all these things, the people who get in and find a niche early will make the money,

Could it be you? Me? All of us.

Let's check it out...

The King of DIY television
*********************

At the moment, video-sharing website "You Tube"
is king.

The Money Programme revealed that a 79-year old pensioner is broadcasting his war stories to over 2 million people from his country home. A 17- year old girl has 1m viewers watching her mucking about in front of a camera each week.

This 'D.I.Y' approach is revolutionary. This is what everyone thought would happen with satellite TV.
People thought the future would see hundreds of public access channels and homemade community telly.

It turns out, this WILL happen. And IS happening.
But on the internet.

This is a serious threat to television broadcasting.

And for the likes of you and me, it could be an opportunity. All you need to get onto you tube is a digital film camera. You don't need studio sets or technological gimmicks.

As long as you can find a focussed, popular niche, you can make money just by taking into a camera.

Here's why...

******************************
How to make money from YouTube
******************************

Google bought YouTube last year for £883m. This means that people who upload their films will get a share of the ad revenue.

This means you could get money just by gathering viewers.

As with blogs and e-letters, you will also be able to use You Tube to capture an audience that you can then market your wares to... or other people's wares... you could introduce products and earn commission, drive traffic to websites and sales sites, and profit from your own advertising.

For instance, say you upload weekly cute films of your pet and you start getting tens of thousands of viewers... imagine if you could then start sending all these people to a pet-product website... or selling your own pet-related book or DVD...

This isn't as unlikely as it sounds. A couple of friends I know get over 43,000 hits on YouTube for 2-minute films about their rabbits.

Check it out - go and type "Larry and Rita" into http://www.youtube.com and see how many viewers they've got.

Now, while fluffy pets aren't my thing - I personally found the bunny boiling scene in 'Fatal Attraction'
quite funny - this is exciting to me.

Because with the right kind of niche area, and some products, websites, affiliates to turn eyeballs into cash, this could be a winner.

And it looks like the floodgates may be opening soon...

A guy called Michael Rasmussen has released a report that shows you how to use on You Tube to get traffic to your website. I have ordered this report and, once I've read it, I'll let you know if it's any good or not.

But this idea has real moneymaking potential
**************************************

You remember I was talking about how to get traffic to your site in the other week's email?

(If you didn't get those tips, click here and read the issue on my website:
http://www.bizoppjungle.com/letters/e04022007.html )

Well, I reckon with the right type of film and a bit of trying-and-testing, YouTube could soon be a traffic-generator.

So here's my challenge:

TRY IT OUT! See if you can build a list of viewers on YouTube by finding a niche subject, like pets, music, local community, history, sport...

Make sure the subject can be linked to something
commercial: books, websites, courses, DVDs.

Don't worry about the commercial side too much.
Do it for fun at first... play around with different ideas... see what's what.

If it works, you could be on of the first biz opp seekers to take advantage of this. Better still, this could be the perfect system or idea to submit to the Tiger's Lair.

You just need to get your camera out and experiment!

Go to http://www.youtube.com , go to the 'sign-up'
at the top of the page and enter your details. It will give you an option to upload film files from your computer.

Hey, perhaps I can start doing my e-letter as a You Tube broadcast!

Television stardom here I come.

(Or not!)

Later alligator
