Are you making this # 1 biz opp mistake?
Today’s Adventure in the Biz Opp Jungle:
‘In which Charlie revisits some old advice, reveals the number 1 biz opp mistake, and how to escape the 9-5 grind’
Hi
Do you procrastinate?
“I’ll do it tomorrow”... “I’ll get started next week”... “I’m too busy.... “I’m going to start this now – but after the washing up.”
That kind of thing.
If so, you’re falling foul of the number 1 mistake all business opportunity seekers - including myself - make.
Here’s a reader’s email that’s typical of how you and I often think:
"I have to get out of the grind of the 9 - 5. But I am my own worse nightmare. I get involved in too many opportunities and never get them off the ground. I read the copy, get excited, buy the material. I read the material, get excited again and then the procrastinations set in.”
If this rings any bells... you know... as if you’re strapped inside Big Ben going DONG! DONG!
Then could you be a biz opp addict?
Today I want to revisit some advice that I gave a few years ago. I think it’s important, and I’ve passed this onto a number of readers recently, so I believe it’s worth repeating.
It really could save you a lot of time and money – and rescue you from the cycle of excitement and disappointment.
...and even rescue you from ‘biz opp addiction’.
You see, ordering a business opportunity is an easy way to feel like you've done something IMMEDIATELY constructive and positive with your life.
All you have to do is click ‘order now’ and you’ve solved your problems with no effort.
The sales pitch gets you fired up and fills your head with possibilities, dreams, ideas and plans for the future.
Fantastic.
This is the very stuff of life! Keeps us all young and driven. I love it, and I don’t think anyone should get too cynical too soon!
But there’s a problem...
You get hooked on the ordering process – but not the actual moneymaking process
After that surge of enthusiasm comes a big crash. It’s like eating a sugary, high-carb meal. You get a blood sugar rush, then suddenly, an hour later, you come crashing down and start craving more food.
Same with biz opps.
The hard part is following it through. Putting in the time. Keeping up the enthusiasm. Taking the hard knocks.
It’s hard, it takes energy and commitment. And it’s a lot rougher than simply reading a great sales pitch and handing over some cash.
After you’ve got it through the post and had it lying on your desk for a month, you CRASH. Suddenly, you do anything to avoid going back to. A million other little jobs become more important.
You skim it through a few times, read the introduction, then imagine that you’ll make a “to do” list.
Then it goes on the shelf, or goes back to the publisher.
This is how people get addicted to collecting business opportunities.
It's as the act of buying the course or book is enough to satisfy you... for a while... then after a short while you crave another stimulating idea to get you going.
Or you simply decide that you need to buy another book to tell you how to get on with the first book.
And so it goes on.
Why this makes you vulnerable
This plays right into the hands of marketers. They love it when people prefer buying stuff to actually sitting down and DOING stuff.
This is why you get so much up-selling in the biz opp world. When you buy something, you’re offered loads more stuff by the publisher. It's nothing to do with them being sneaky or unscrupulous...
It's because people out there DEMAND it! They crave it... they want to feed their addiction.
But if you actually want to make some money, you need to sit down and go through the tough part: putting it into practice.
All biz opps take a while to get going. But when you start making a couple of hundred quid extra a week, your motivation will grow and grow. You'll feel more confident and empowered.
Then you'll see that couple of hundred quid now could mean a couple of thousand next year!
The excitement will now come from inside YOU - not some copywriter trying to sell you an idea.
So when you buy an opportunity and get hold of the materials, here's what to do. Write some targets and a realistic plan based on the spare time you have.
Now follow the blueprint or course as described in the book or course. Follow everything to the letter. Don't just pick out the bits you are most comfortable with.
And discipline yourself to do this!
If you still don't follow through with your plans, and find your attention wandering... ask yourself if this is really what you want to do.
Two things that will help you get on track
Of course, it is important to have trusted guides and inspirational writers to help us through the first stages of any good business.
I have a couple of recommendations in this area.
For a great biz opp service that can help you with anything you are trying to do, with email support and interesting monthly articles, you should try Nick Laight's 'What Really Makes Money'.
Nick promises to help you set up and run your own home business that makes £15,000 at least in the next year. Or you get your money back.
You should also download a free copy of an inspirational classic from my website.
'Think and Grow Rich' by Napoleon Hill is one of the best selling success books of all time. First published in 1937, it's the result of interviews with over 500 successful people, including Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, John D. Rockefeller, George Eastman, William Wrigley Jr. and Charles M. Schwab.
Hill studied the characteristics of these great achievers, and developed fifteen 'laws' that anybody can follow to achieve success.
If this book doesn't give get you into the mindset of an achiever, then nothing will! Click here to download the book:
I know I’ve offered this book lots of times, but it’s seriously worth reading. And if you haven’t read it for a while, give it another go!
I’ll be back on Sunday with some new reviews for you.
Later alligator
