I've managed to sit down and interview one of Britain's wealthiest self-made entrepreneurs... extract his opinions, secrets and moneymaking tips...

Ever heard of Felix Dennis?
He founded his own computer magazine publishing company in 1973. He became a multi-millionaire after the sale of Personal Computer World to VNU and MacUser to Ziff Davis Publishing in the mid-80s.
He also co-founded a $2 billion mail order company, which went public on the NASDAQ
His publishing company then went onto own the US magazines Stuff, Computer Shopper, Blender and Evo. Also Maxim, the world's biggest selling men's lifestyle magazine.
In 2007, Dennis sold his US operation to a private equity group, Alpha Media Group. Nobody knows for how much, but I’m guessing it’s a ridiculous big hairy sum of money the likes of which you and I will never see.
And he’s still going strong. In 2008, Dennis Publishing branches out into digital magazines iGizmo and iMotor along with Monkey.
All that aside, now he's here to help YOU make money...

I'm being slightly disingenuous.
Or, lying to you, in fact.
Being a small fish in a massive pond full of sharks and MASSIVE fat fish with 5 mouths and big appetites... I obviously haven't got a personal interview with Felix Dennis.
But I HAVE read his amazing book, 'How to Get Rich', (Ebury Press) and interviewed him...
...In my mind!

Okay, on with the interview...
Charlie meets Mr Dennis
WRIGHT: So Felix, how did you get rich?
DENNIS: I got rich my way. You might even say the old- fashioned way. By making lots of errors, and learning from them.
WRIGHT: What qualities does a successful entrepreneur need?
DENNIS: Tunnel vision helps. Being a bit of a sh*t helps. A thick skin helps. Stamina is crucial, as is a capacity top work so hard that your best friends mock you, your lovers despair, and the rest of your acquaintances watch furtively from the sidelines.
WRIGHT: What's the biggest myth you know regarding getting rich?
DENNIS: That people get rich by having a 'great idea'. The follow-through, the execution, is a thousand times more important than a 'great idea.' If the execution is perfect, it sometimes barely matters what the idea is.
WRIGHT: So...
DENNIS: (interrupting by slapping WRIGHT across the forehead) If you want to get rich, don't sit around waiting for inspiration to strike. Just get busy getting rich.
WRIGHT: Any regrets about the path you took?
DENNIS: Looking back, I have to say that I regret the majority of the times I acquiesced in shilly-shallying and a retreat to safety. I would rather have tried and failed, in most cases, than have taken the safer course.
WRIGHT: What tips would you have to give to my readers who dream of being rich?
DENNIS: If you care what the neighbours think, you will never get rich... if you cannot bear the thought of causing worry to your family, spouse or lover while you plough a lonely, dangerous road rather than taking the safe option of a regular job, you will never get rich.... If you cannot convince yourself that you are 'good enough' to be rich you will never get rich.
WRIGHT: And...?
DENNIS: If you cannot treat your quest to get rich as a game, you will never be rich.
WRIGHT: A lot of people like me get ribbed and teased by others about our desire for financial freedom. How can we rise above it?
DENNIS: Those who can never be rich may not want you to become rich. That's an ugly thing to say, but unless you realise and accept that you cannot be 'one of the boys', that your bosses and you are not 'in this thing together', that only those who refuse to be conned by the idea of 'team spirit' in the workplace can succeed.... then you will only make other people rich.
WRIGHT: How do we know which path is best for us?
DENNIS: Trial and error is the only way I ever heard of.... Ruthlessly analyse what your particular aptitudes are and act upon them rather than attempt to graft and oak tree onto a dandelion.... A small success - even a tiny success - can provide a clue. It was my own success at selling magazines on the street that led me to publish them eventually.
WRIGHT: So me and my readers should keep searching?
DENNIS: Those who are prepared to analyse the risk, to bear the humiliation, and to act in deadly earnest - these are the 'lucky' ones who will find themselves, when the music stops, holding a potful of money.
WRIGHT: These people make their own luck?
DENNIS: They never stopped searching. Perhaps they spent months or even years searching in the wrong place. Or possibly they hit upon the object of their search at the first attempt. No matter. Having found what they needed where they needed it... their search is over. And it is THEY who will bcome rich.
WRIGHT: Mr Dennis, thankyou.
