I think you have gone wrong somewhere, if you check your selections some of them are Beaten favourites so would not be allowed. I have only had at the most 6 losers on the trot over the past 3 months. Nigel you say it not much fun laying at £5 per point. The system is called little acorns. I started on £5 units and built up to £25 units. I think for those that are impatient then it wont work, nor would any system for that matter.Goldie

Theaphid,
Interesting post from you.
I must admit LA to make any REAL money requires a strong nerve apart from the fact that it is very difficult laying a horse that you firmly believe will win irrespective of whether it qualifies or not. The key flaw of LA are the selections as different users can end up laying not the same horses due to the ever changing prices on Betfair as one minute they qualify next they don't. If you read the instructions, it clearly states the best time and also that a selection qualifies if it meets the criteria at ANY time up to the start of the race.
Then we have instances like Denman in his race at Newbury prior to the Gold Cup. Clearly not an LA qualifier but a cheap and superb lay at 1/8f. Kauto Star was a fantastic lay yet Big Bucks was a definite no no.
The problem with systems are that is exactly what they are a system. An inflexible, rigid rule set that cannot take into account changing market conditions and in my and others experiences they are all doomed to fail in the long term. This apart from psychological factors, mistakes etc.
LA is certainly one of the better of the horse racing systems available BUT requires extreme patience, steel nerve and much dedication, a little luck wouldn't go amiss either.

Did I really sneak in some Beaten Favourites? I thought we were being pretty diligent on that rule
I do know that one crept in when my wife (says he, shifting the blame!) got excited and put the bet on before checking it but I wasn't expecting more BFs in my list.
And erm, yes, I have been thinking of backing them instead - at least in the "place" market but the odds there are so low it's not worth bothering.
On my spreadsheet I've been trialling a couple of modifications just to see what happens. The "betsize = number of runners" is in profit but not enough to write home about. The "betsize = number of furlongs" is also in profit but only by a small amount. If I could add more money when needed and ignore the "start again after 7 losses" rule then the account would actually be in a reasonable profit (about 17% in 11 months (yes, I can be patient!)).
I'm glad that the hossie in my previous posting came second - phew! I offer, ahead of time again, my only selection for today too...

Today's only selection is
Quote:Sat 10/04/2010 15:35 Chep "Strategic Approach" at 1.98 I'm not terribly convinced about this one but I'm sticking with the plan Edit: A nice 5th place there, yay!
And just for a bit of fun, I have 4 quid on number 4 to win the Grand National because it's at 4 fifteen over 4 miles and 4 furlongs. Edit: *facepalm* There were 4 places so why did I choose the "win" market? I could have won a little bit and bragged & strutted all day with that second placing. D'ohhh!
Edit 2: Sunday's selection, ahead of time again, is

Aphid....why don't you take a look at tipexchange.co.uk where there are both laying and backing tipsters some of which are free with totally transparent profitable records.....this takes the hassle out of having to watch the screen all day to see if the little acorns conditions apply. tipexchange is an excellent site which is well worth looking at.

Hey, would anyone mind messaging me the password to get the PDF or simply just the rule that requires checking in the racing post.
Basically I brought the system ages ago and created a bot to run the whole system, except for the racing post rule. Now I cant find the PDF and my email to the publisher has not been responded to.
BTW the results (I have about 5 months worth) are good (about 10 points a month) but not as good as those reported by the publisher, possibly because I have not been using the rule.
My next step is to try and build the racing post rule into my bot, I think it is doable with some clever coding.
Many thanks

Mark, 10 points a month is pretty good, some months i have made more and some months less than you, as you say it maybe because you are not using the racing post filter rule which is very important i think. I just use it on allweather now, less bets but better strike rate. Goldie

I got a reply from the publisher! I think I was using the wrong email address.
I guess it's not bad, over 5 full months I've averaged 9.5 points. Ranging from 2 to 15 points.
This has been with £2 stakes, this system seems to work well and I think it is time to increase. If I had to place the bets manually I'm not sure I'd bother with it though! I guess I'm lazy!?
